Thank you for choosing Kaya Jewelry – we hope you enjoy your unique piece of jewelry! Please follow these jewelry care guidelines to make sure your jewelry retains its beauty.

Gold fill jewelry will last a lifetime if treated properly. The most important thing to remember is to keep it away from moisture. Apply makeup, hairspray or any type of lotion before putting your jewelry on.

After wearing it, gently wipe each piece of jewelry clean with a jewelry polishing cloth. Only use non-abrasive or alcohol-free products to clean your jewelry.

Store jewelry separately – in a plastic baggie, silk or velvet bag to prevent tarnishing, tangling and scratching.

Preventing sterling silver jewelry from tarnishing:

To prevent tarnishing, keep your sterling silver away from humidity and store in a dry airtight container, like a zip lock bag. After taking off silver jewelry, clean it with a dry soft cloth before putting it back into an airtight container.

Cleaning Tarnished Sterling Silver:

It is recommended to use a silver polishing cloth to remove oxidation from silver. Another option is using a commercial cleaner available at jewelry stores. Always remember to read the instructions first before you start cleaning. Most commercial cleaners are very strong and will remove all oxidation.

You can also wash silver jewelry (without gemstones or pearls) in warm water containing a few drops of mild dish washing liquid. Immerse the sterling silver in the water and gently hand wash. Use a cotton swab for tight corners. A soft baby toothbrush can be used for more abrasive cleaning when needed. Thoroughly rinse and completely dry the sterling silver before storing.

Cleaning your gemstone jewelry

After removing your gemstone jewelry, clean it by following the directions on a non-abrasive jewelry cleaner. Make sure that the jewelry cleaner specifies that it is safe to use with your gemstone. Use a soft cloth to remove any remaining dirt or other residue.

Storing gemstone jewelry

Store your gemstone jewelry in a lined case or a soft cloth, so the gems do not touch each other or parts of other jewelry. Gemstones are harder than gold, silver, or platinum and can scratch the surfaces of your other fine jewelry if they are not kept separate. Your gemstone jewelry should be the last thing you put on when getting dressed and the first thing you take off at the end of the night. Store your gemstones carefully and they will be enjoyed for generations.

Do not expose beadwoven jewelry to water, perfume or any other chemicals (including soap and other detergents, creams, lotions, disinfectants, etc.). Do not wear your jewelry when doing dishes, taking showers or swimming. Make sure to take it off before going to bed.

Store your beadwoven items in the original package in a dry place that is protected from direct sunlight. We only use high quality materials in our creations; however, many types of seed beads can tarnish, change, or even lose their color if stored in high moisture, heat or sunlight. Those conditions may also damage the thread, making it brittle. A soft pouch will prevent seed beads, crystals and gems in your woven items from chipping and scratching.

Avoid dropping or tossing your beadwoven jewelry onto hard surfaces.

When properly cared for beadwoven jewelry will serve you for many years to come and may even stay in your family for generations.
